What is APLMA?

APLMA  is an alliance of the the Heads of State of the Pacific to fight Malaria.

Mission

To translate political commitments into action and to establish a regional platform to fight malaria and other communicable diseases in Asia and the Pacific.

Vision

An Asia Pacific region free of Malaria and reduced risk from other communicable diseases.

 

Challenges

  • Malaria, including drug-resistant malaria and other communicable diseases do not recognize national borders.
  • Addressing the issue of increased human mobility, migration, trade, logging, and illegal trade of counterfeit drugs.
  • Regional action on commitment necessary to address the causes and spread of malaria, drug-resistant malaria, and other communicable diseases.
  • Additional finance to reduce the threat from malaria and other communicable diseases in Asia and the Pacific is required.
  • Urgent multi-country action is necessary to keep countries on course and to defeat malaria and other communicable diseases.
